Welcome to the website of Allure Golden Retrievers and thank you for stopping by.  Allure is a small kennel in Minnesota that is passionate about Golden Retrievers and animals in general.

I became involved with Goldens when I was 11-12 years old.  It has been so long I can't remember the exact year.  I started showing in junior showmanship, obedience, and field.  I purchased my first conformation show dog while in college and participated in the breed and obedience rings.  One dog led to another, one year led to another, and now, 25 years later, I am owned by six wonderful Golden Retrievers.

Above I say "about us".  That is because there are a few other people that are an integral part of Allure.  First and foremost, my parents Barb and Darrell.  They have been active in my love for animals from the very beginning.  On family trips it was up to them to wake me up if we passed a field of horses.  I couldn't miss a single one.  It was Dad who drove me to countless training classes and dog shows.  He sat patiently reading his books and occasionally taking a peak at what was going on in class.  He loved to people watch!  To this day he still enjoys going to dog shows with me and his granddogs, especially the major road trips.  He is my dog sitter while I am away on business or at shows.  It's a short walk through the woods as we live next door to each other, but he always stays at the house with the animals.  Mom would occasionally go to shows with us when I was younger, but her main and very important position at Allure is head puppy nanny.  Without her willingness to be there for my puppies while I am at work, none of this could be possible.  Her role is a bit more "behind the scenes" but still very important.  She always rolls her eyes when I say I am getting another dog.  She thinks I am crazy but she understands my love for this breed.  Another individual that I must mention is my dear friend and also my neighbor to the south, Karen.  She too shares the same passion as I for animals.  Her house is not without Goldens.  She has two very wonderful golden girls that once lived here at Allure.  She is also a "dog nanny" extraordinaire.  Karen, like my mother, also thinks I am crazy at times.

As a member of the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) and the GTCGRC, I follow a strict Breeders Code of Ethics.  Allure is not a "commercial" breeder of Golden Retrievers and I will not sell overseas.  I breed my dogs occasionally and my goal is to produce dogs that are of sound mind and body, of excellent temperament, intelligence, beauty, and that are true to type as described in the breed standard.  All my dogs in my breeding program are screened for hip and elbow problems and are certified normal by OFA.  We screen for Subvalvular Aortic Stenosis and other heart abnormalities by a Board Certified Cardiologist and have annual eye CERF clearances done by a Board Certified Ophthalmologist.  I also routinely screen my dogs for thyroid problems and will only breed animals that have a normal thyroid function.  I believe in promoting responsible dog ownership through education and support from breeders and veterinarians.

My dogs are a huge part of my family.  They are companions first and foremost and then show dogs.  If you acquire a dog from Allure, I will remain an active participant in his/her life.  It is very important to me to maintain a relationship with all the people that have golden kids from Allure.

Thank you again for your interest in Allure Golden Retrievers.  Please feel free to contact me at anytime in regards to my dogs, puppies or the breed in general.

Linda
